LGNS 12/28/08

Hey All --
Well apparently everyone but the Hodsons and Rossinis decided not to come to Life Group today (that includes the Clines). I know, I know -- this is a big travel time part of the year and even if you did not travel -- it is a very taxing week. I hope you and your family had a wonderful week last week and have a wonderful upcoming week. Please take care and be careful in what you do and hope to see you back on this next week. There will not be a formal newsletter for this week, but if you have some updates you wish for me to send out -- let me know.
I hope the new year finds you well and see you soon...

** Also, Please keep the Goodman family in your prayers. They have been sick since Christmas and are just now starting to heal.
They wanted me to let you know they miss the class and hope to return soon.

PRAISE HIM!

I stand amazed and humbled at the generosity of our friends and family during this trial our family has been going through the last 3 months. Now that we are coming out of it, I can reflect back and see how amazing God's power and timing is. We truly have been surrounded with love, not only by our Lord, but by our precious friends and loved ones. This week, Brent was offered a position at Omega, a subcontracting business for Y-12 in Oak Ridge. This job has been in the works for several weeks now, but it is finally a for sure thing! He accepted the position and his first day was Wednesday! Praise the Lord! I am not going to lie to you, these last few months have been very difficult and rocky at times, but only by God's grace have we been able to have His perfect peace and rest. We want to thank our LifeGroup again for the generous Christmas gift. Our party was the December 12th and our home mortgage came out the 15th. The amount our LifeGroup gave us was $20 dollars short of the what our mortgage is. It only reassured us again, that God knows all, He knew how much we needed and that is what we got. This was a prayer answered and God provided us with what we needed!! Thank you, Lord! We have had several people leave us cash, gift cards, taken us grocery shopping, sent us encouragement cards, countless meals paid for, given us food, formula, and diapers for the baby, but most importantly, prayed for us. I could go on and on about how God has used people and different situations to speak, minister, and provide for our family. Just this week, some of our precious friends brought us a Walmart gift card that was desperately needed for groceries. I can honestly say that even though this has been a trying time, we have drawn close to God and depended on him for EVERYTHING! This is where we should all be on a daily basis...God has a way of showing us that we need Him, not only for the big things, but also for small things. Again, during this Christmas season, we want to thank everyone for thier unfailing love, undeniable generosity, and unselfish giving. Oh, how Christ must be blessed!

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength. Isaiah 26:3-4

Prayers for us

Hey guys,

I am asking for prayer for my 7 month old niece, Maddie. Tomorrow morning she will be having a rather large birthmark removed from her stomach. This birthmark could possibly pose problems later on in life if not removed (i.e. skin cancer, etc) Please pray for my sis-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Adam. Thanks and see you Sunday.

Prayer for Les' friend

Hello everyone,

I am writing (for Leslie) to ask for every one's prayer for a colleague of Leslie. Leslie's friend was found by her husband today, lying in their living room floor. After being taken to the hospital, the doctors found an aneurysm in her brain. She in currently in the ICU at a hospital here in Knoxville. (I do not know which one). Anyways, Les' friend's name is Cheryl, so we would like for everyone to please pray for her, her family, and her doctors right now, as they continue to treat her.

Thank you,

Chad

LGNS 11/17/08

Hey All -
Just wanted to let you know there will not be a formal newsletter this week. If you have any praise or prayer requests, please feel free to let me know. I do want to say thank you for all of your prayers for my grandma -- she is still in CCU and in serious condition, but better than initially expected. Please continue to pray for her.
I also want to thank Brent and Allyson on behalf of the class for once again opening their beautiful home so graciously to the class for the missions dinner on Saturday night. Thank you to everyone who participated and to those who were participating in different areas such as hosting a missionary in their home, guides, etc.
Have a great week and talk with you soon...

Pritchard Prayer Requests

Hey guys,

I have a couple of prayer requests from our house. First of all Andy's grandpa, Ralph Pritchard, passed away this morning. Please remember the whole Pritchard family as they go through this difficult time. I think the arrangements will be Friday, Sat. We will know more this afternoon.

Also, my neice Maddie, will be going to Cincinatti for a consultation. She was born with a congenital nevi birthmark on her tummy- how ironic huh? Anyway, these birthmarks can sometimes become cancerous later in life and it will need to be removed. Adam and Sandra, her parents will find out what the doctors want to do and when the removal will need to happen. They also plan to do a biopsy on an area of the birthmark that is a little darker than it should be. Adam is Andy's brother. Please keep them in your prayers this week as they deal with the unknowns. Maddie is 5 months old.

Pray also for a quick recovery for me. I have a sinus infection and am feeling pretty crummy. As most of you moms know the household doesn't stop just b/c you are sick. So pray that I can continue to tend to my SAHM duties and keep our routine consistent.

Love you all!

Specific prayer for Brent

Brent wants us to specifically pray for him between the hrs. of 3-6 p.m. He is having a really hard time at night sleeping(it is really hot, there is no light at all, and he is in a room by himself). Pray that the Lord would give him a peace and a time to be refreshed and rested. We know that it is just the enemy! Thanks again and I am sure Brent covets your prayers!

Also Allyson says that Emma is doing better with her fever, however, continue to pray for her and the children during Brent's misson trip.

Prayer requests

Hey guys! Please pray for Tristan. She has pneumonia. She is not contagious thank goodness, but she feels really crummy. She is out of school M-W. Thank goodness the kids have their Fall break this Thur and Fri. so she won't miss too much work. We are going camping on Wed- Sat. so pray that she feels better and is able to go. Also she is starting the "Now that I am a Christian Class" next Sun. along with about 20 other kids. Pray for wisdom and discernment for Mr. Pete who will be teaching them, and also for us parents as we teach them a bibilical worldview.

2 posts

Hello everyone. 2 things that I wanted to let you know about. First of all, my friend Duane, that I told everyone about & that Lisa shared about in the newsletter. His prostrate surgery seemed to go very well. I have talked to him & he said the doctors told him they were able to remove ALL OF THE CANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, pray the doctors were right with their judgments. Duane is still in pain right now, which could be expected, so he still needs our prayers.

Secondly, the new newsletter is up, so check it out. If you have any problems viewing it let me know. Have a good week.

Post from Chad:

Hello everyone. The following is a prayer request from the friend (Tommy) of mine. It is for a friend of his. I have just copied and pasted the exact e-mail that he sent to me. Please pray for this friend of his. Thank you, Chad.

Friends,

Jeff had appointments with doctors in the past week or so. The best news is that there is no sign of recurrence of cancer. Head and neck cancer will normally return in the first year after the end of treatments if it is going to return. This check up is the three month point after Jeff’s last treatment. Three months down and nine months to go.

On the downside, Jeff has been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Got to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_apnea or http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/understanding-obstructive-sleep-apnea-syndrome to see more about this condition. This may be a result of the radiation treatments that Jeff received. The doctor said that some patients are borderline for being diagnosed with sleep apnea and the radiation creates a situation where the apnea is recognized and diagnosed. You will remember that Jeff’s salivary glands were damaged by the same radiaiton. No matter how careful the radiation is used, there are secondary results.

Keep him in your prayers as he continues to survive cancer.

Tommy

From Ben Harper:

Following message is from Ben Harper:

My dad is in the hospital in Dayton, Ohio (Good Sam.). He had a kidney transplant a few years ago so he is monitored closely. He had been running a fever for a couple of days, and the clinic in Cincinnati that monitors him said that he had a UTI. On Saturday his fever spiked and is oxygen levels went low. He is stable but the doctors feel he has an infection in his blood but they don't know the source. They don't think the UTI is the source. They have called in a rare disease doctor so hopefully he will be able to find out what's going on. He is still running a fever and very weak but not in any real pain.

Bates' Prayer Request

Hello everyone. I have a prayer request that I would like for everyone to please for. My grandmother is having difficulties with some medications that she is taking right now. She went to the doctor today & they are trying to find out what the problems (side effects) are. So, the doctors switched her meds & are going to try this out for 2 weeks & then she goes back in for a check-up, 2 weeks from today. So, please pray for both her and my grandfather during this time period, for their strength, and for answers to unanswered questions. Thank you very much.

Siggers' Prayer Request

The following is from Ashleigh Siggers

I really didn’t learn anything new from the doctor yesterday. I pretty sure a laparoscopic surgery will be the only way to find out if I do or do not have endometriosis. I have to do a test and send it back. The great part is tomorrow is the exact day I need to take the test, it takes 5 days to get back, and then I will see her a couple of days after she gets the results back. She is hopefully going to put me on something that will stop endometriosis from growing (incase I do have it). She is leaving and starting a new practice and all this just happened to fit in while she is still at this job. Isn’t God so good!

Thanks for all the prayers!!!!!

Prayers

Well the Pritchard Family is off on a RV road trip this weekend. We are heading to Alabama to camp with some birthmark buddies(as we call them). We will not be in Life Group on Sunday. Please pray for travel mercies, and that we won't end up like that movie "RV" with Robin Williams. That would not be good! Have a Happy Labor Day everyone, and see ya when we get back

Another modification

Hey everyone, it's me, Chad, again. I made another change to our blogsite. If you will notice on the lower, right-hand side of the page, I have added an additional link that will take you directly to the "class pics." I did this, so that you will be able to get to them in the future and not have to search back through all of the posts, to try to find the date of the post that I placed today's post & the link to the site on. So, either link (the one that in the post, or the one on the right-hand side) should take you to the pics. Any problems, let me know. Hope everyone likes what I did. See ya Sunday.

Family Pics Slideshow

Hello everyone,

Well, I waited on everyone to get their pictures in as long as I could for the project that I have been working on. :o) I could not wait any longer, I wanted everyone to see what I have put together for our class to see. I hope that everyone likes what I have done with the pictures. Please give me some feedback and let me know how you feel about it. Also, if you have not turned in your pictures, please continue to do so. I can still use them and rework what I've done. Thanks and I hope that everyone "enjoys the show........."

Back Home

We are back home from the hospital. Susanna is feeling much better. Thanks for all the prayers.
-Ben, Susanna, and Meredith

Prayer Request

I also ran into Josh Hipshire this week. He has asked that you all pray for him and his family in an unspoken request.

Prayer Request

Hey all,
Elaine, Mike's mom, had a test run while we were at the beach and it showed that the tumor was growing again. She had a biopsy and finally after 3 years they were able to determine it is actually cancer, adenocarcinoma to be exact. She goes for another test on Tuesday and then some lung tests to determine if she will be able to have surgery. The huge praise it that it is curable with surgery or radiation, but they would prefer to do surgery if her lungs can stand it. I/we appreciate all your prayers for our family.

It's me again!!!! Just talked to Jill Morton. She said she and baby were doing well. She is not getting much sleep at night but she said it is much better than being pregnant!!! She sounded really good and was excited about the class bringing dinner tonight(thank you Ginger and Tracy). Thanks to everyone who brought gifts to shower their new baby, Logan!!!! I think this is the last time today I will post something....
It
I just got off the phone with Susanna. She said Tuesday she started to notice that she was weezing and her feet, legs, and hips were swelling. She just thought she was getting a cold or something, but as the day went on she was having a really hard time breathing. Ben took her to the ER and her oxygen level was at 87 percent and they want it above 95. They ran some tests for a heart disease and it came back negative. They admitted her and were able to get on a floor that the baby could stay with her. The doctors have told her that it is because she labored for so long that her body is having a hard time getting rid of the fluid. She said she for sure has to stay tonight but thinks they will be able to go home tomorrow. Ben is taking off an entire month so he will be able to help her. Continue to pray for the Harper family.
We missed everyone Sunday! We had a great vacation, though! I got a call this morning from church saying that Susanna had been taken to the emergency room at UT. She was having trouble breathing. I tried to call them this afternoon and there wasn't an answer. I took Edan yesterday to get shots and they were at the doctor also. She, Ben, and Meredith seemed to all be doing fine. As soon as I find something out I will repost. Be praying. Thanks!

Allyson

Glad the trip and "celebration" went well Chad. It will be good to see you all too, Sherrods. Andy and I will be teaching Ty's Sunday School class this weekend so we will not be in Life Group. We will be praying for all of the kiddos who will be starting school next week. See you all Sunday.

Directions to the Hodson Lifegroup Class

Place: North Wing B. Enter from the right outside of the sanctuary.

If you have any questions about the location, please give Brent or the church office a call for directions.

Lisa
YEAH -- I can. I might get the hang of this yet.

Lisa
Thanks Chad -- I think i might be able to post now.

Hello Everyone!!

Just wanted to know directions to the new class.

We miss you all and cant wait to get back!!

Congrats to all the new parents too! We cant wait to see all the new little members of the Hodoson Life Group Tribe. LOL

The Sherrod Family
Randy, April, & Miss Leah

Thank you for your prayers....

Hello everyone. I wanted to tell everyone thank you for your prayers while I was gone to the "celebration" of my uncle's death. Everything went very well with the service. My family is doing fine and they are holding together strong. Thank you all for your prayers.

On another note, I received an e-mail stating that some people are having problems posting to the blog. I went back through today and rechecked and reset everything, to ensure that it was set up correctly. So, now you should all receive an "invitation" in your e-mail today, inviting you to join the "Hodson Life Group" blog. What you need to do (if you are having problems posting) is follow the directions that accompany that invitation that was sent out. It tells you the exact info about joining the group, setting up your blog account, etc. So, everyone should be able to post if you follow those directions.

If you still have problems, let me know. Have a great week.

Praise!

My grandmother did great in her surgery and they were able to do the procedure without any problems! Thanks for your prayers. Also, Tim's mom is doing well after her surgery and Tim can wait a bit before having his wisdom teeth/cyst removed.

I think the Dunlap family is loving the blog! :)

Heather

Im here

Be lonely no more. I am here.

Chad Davis

It is very lonely here

I'm waiting for someone else to join the conversation.
Okay, update, luckily Chad changed the pink background.
Am I crazy or is this the pinkest background I have ever seen in the blogosphere? My computer is mad at me now because it had to display something that pink.
First one to post! Dunlap family rules the school.
