Praise/Prayer Requests:
Hodson: Praise -- Brent got his passport. Prayer -- Pray for Ezra as he continues to recover. Brent will be applying for his Visa. Pray that all goes well with the visa so he will not experience any problems once in Kenya. Also pray for Allyson and the mission trip as she prepares herself.
Coffey: Praise -- Jackson did fabulous through his surgery. Prayer -- Pray for Luke's grandmother, Francis (Frankie) as she is in the hospital and will be for a little bit. Pray for her recovery.
Bates: Prayer -- Leslie's sister-in-law has had the flue a week. Recover has been slow. Please pray she will be better soon.
Hipsher: Prayer -- Pray for both of them as they wait for God's timing (It is a struggle right now) on the sale of their home. They are anxious and frustrated.
Cline: Prayer -- Pray for Storm as he is not feeling well as sickness makes its rounds again in our home. Pray for my mom, Donna, as she still is recovering from her last battle of a cracked tooth which faired her neuralgia terribly. She is in constant pain.
Gideon and Grace: Prayer -- Pray for continued provisions through the drought. Also continue to pray for the children.

Cline: Prayer -- My friend Kristina and her family, the Johnsons. Her husband has been scheduled to work out of town for the next 6-8 months. They have three children (8, 5, 3). He will only be able to return home on Friday nights and leave right after church on Sunday. Their oldest son is also playing travel baseball. This is a very hard issue for her and the entire family. Pray for peace about the situation and God's timing will reveal itself to them as he is currently looking for another job.

Reynolds: Prayer -- Ellen Keffers. Todd's grandmother, had triple bypass surgery. Pray for a speedy recovery.
Bates: Prayer -- Pray for Chad's grandfather (Pop) as he is not feeling well.
Cline: Prayer -- Pray for my Mom, Donna, as she unexpectedly lost one of her dog's this morning. Her Bichon Frise was 9 and had ER surgery yesterday and all seemed well until the Vet called her early this morning and found that Sophia had not made it through the night. She is very upset about this and on top of all of her medical issues, well it just does not make for a good situation. Jim-Paw as has to undergo yet another surgery Monday.
Laney: Praise -- Chase's sleep study was normal other than some snoring. Prayer: For answers to be found as to why his heart rate is dropping.
Hipsher: Prayer -- Suzanne is going to Thailand Feb 4-13th. Pray for the team that they will glorify God in everything they do. Also pray for Josh as he will be home.
Cox: Prayer -- That God will provide a job.

Please pray for Storm's teacher Nikki Swisher, she is pregnant with twins and due in February. She was put on bed rest 2 weeks ago and returned to the doctor today for a check up to see if she could return to school to teach. The blood clot (I don't know where it is at) has not resolved in any way and they have now admitted her to the hospital. She has had difficulties becoming pregnant this time and last and has had in vetro to become pregnant. She is a very strong Christian woman and instills those values in children in her care at school She is also a leader in the Kids for Christ program in our county. I know that she would covet your prayers for her, her twin girls, and her family.

Hi everyone. I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Thank you for all your prayers for Brent. He had an x-ray done yesterday and he is back in therapy. We haven't gotten the results back yet, but we had to have this done and re-do therapy for the insurance to pay for an mri. The pain had subsided a little yesterday and he was able to go to work for a little bit. I told Brent Sunday morning missing church was awful and it was the first time in forever that all of us missed! It felt so weird! Here are just a few announcements:
Children's Mission Forum - Kindergarten and up
-Saturday, November 13 from 11-2
-You need to sign up your children by Wednesday, November 10th
-Lunch will be provided (Pizza)
-The children will have small group time with each of the missionaries, they will get a passport, and learn interesting facts about the different countries and missionaries. Our kids have always participated in this and really enjoyed it. I would encourage you to sign up your age-appropriate child!
Life Group Missions Dinner
-Saturday, November 13 from 6-8
-Art and Wendi Knight's home
-Childcare available under 5 from 5:30-8:30 (you will need to sign up your child and take a sack lunch)
-We will be having soup, salad, and dessert
-There is still a need for 1 more soup, salad, and dessert. If you haven't signed up for anything please respond to this email. There will be another sign up sheet passed around this Sunday at the Stock the Nursery shower.
If you have signed up for an item and aren't able to come, please make every effort to get it to Brent before the dinner.
-I would encourage each and every one of you to make an attempt to come. This is one of the best social's we have as a LifeGroup. And you will absolutely love who we are hosting! We are going back in partnership with Grace and Gideon Makuthi of Salama, Kenya. You will be blessed so please clear your calendars and plan on coming! Also, we are taking Eli and Emma, so please bring your school age children. Or if you want a date night with your spouse get a babysitter for them!

Good Morning everyone I hope that everyone is off to a great start to this short week. Sunday I handed out David Platt's book Radical for our new study that will start this Sunday Sept. 12th! I'm so excited this will be the first time I have ever taught through a book study and I know that it will be a beneficial series for all of us. So please make every effort to be in LifeGroup. With this past Sunday being an holiday weekend there were many of you that did not have the opportunity to be in LifeGroup and seeing that I handed out the books, you do not have one. So... I will make it very easy for you I have all the books and they are $8 (if you don't have the money now thats ok bring it when you do) and if you will call, text, or email me I will meet you and give one to you. If your going to be at church tomorrow night let me know and we can set up a meeting place.

Everyone needs to read Chapter one "Someone Worth Losing Everything For" page 1 - 21. This is an easy read so everyone should be able to find the time to read these pages.

Bates: Prayer for Chad as he is looking and needs to find a job. Leslie's cousin Marci has received news of the cancer spreading to her bones. She is in an extreme amount of pain. She also has two very young children.

Pritchard: Tristan goes to the orthodontist to have an appliance placed in the roof of her mouth. This will widen her upper jaw. She has been the relatively healthy child without many health issues, so please pray for her and that this apparatus will help her not suck her thumb any longer.

Pritchard: Praise -- Tyler was able to come off one of his medicines and his pressure is considerably lower. Prayer -- Andy and Ty return to NYC this week. Pray for travel mercies and a great report.
John Miller: Prayer -- He is at St. Mary's Main Hospital and has fluid around his heart. Pray for the physicians to determine the cause and for him to get better.
Coffey: Prayer -- Andrea received a call that one of her best friends from college was in a 4- wheeler accident with her boyfriend. From her understanding the 4-wheeler landed on her head/shoulders, and she was wearing a helmet. She has fractured her upper and lower jaw, lost some teeth, and broke her collar bone for certain. They are transferring her to a trauma hospital. Her name is Alayna Adams and she lives in Memphis. At the time she was in Alabama with our other good friends. Please pray for pain control and fast recovery. She also loves to talk and will most certainly have to have her jaw wired.
Prayer Ministries for the class -- Prayerfully consider how the class should proceed in the ministries we offer. Pray for guidance for the entire class and to agree on how to best allocate the monies the church has allotted us for these ministries through the church budget.
Cline/Riddle: Prayer -- travel mercies as we travel for vacation next weekend.

Hey All -

Just wanted to let you know that there will not be a formal newsletter for this week. If you have any updates you wish for me to get out for you this week, please feel free to get those to me. I apologize for the newsletter not coming out last week. On top of the holiday weekend, my internet was in and out and it was not able to be fixed until late Tuesday afternoon. Brent and I talked about the newsletter and I'm sure with all of the events last week we just got our signals crossed and the newsletter just did not get posted. I guess things like this may happen through the summer. I am truly sorry for those requests that were written down and did not get out to the class for prayers. Please know this is NOT a normal occurrence.

Some prayer requests that I am aware of are:

Praise we had two new couples in class today and a third that has attended for a couple of weeks. Remember if you have not been in a while, we certainly are missing your smiling face. Attendance in class is up and down with the onset of summer. If there is someone in class that you do not recognize upon your return, please introduce yourselves and make them feel very welcome.
The Hodson's and Dunlap's are vacationing this week. Keep them in your prayers as they are away and come home.
Erin's grandmother passed away this past week and her grandfather was the primary caregiver for her. This has been the primary thing he has done for some time. Please pray for closure during his mourning process and for him to be able to move on. Pray for his time and that he will be able to fill it with positive things.
Ashleigh and Jonathan will be checking into the hospital next Sunday night for delivery of Mr. Jon-David (I hope that I have spelled it correctly, forgive me if I did not Ash).
Pray for the Morton's and their family situation. Pray for Allie as she has returned to Virginia and she desperately wants to be back here which she considers home.
The Yearwoods as Jeff goes to mediation tomorrow and all the dealings that will come with this. Continue to let the Lord be the leader of Jeff's time management and that Jeff and Stephanie draw all of their strength from the Lord.
Don't forget about Vacation Bible school either June 14-18.

A lady my mother works with had her first grandchild born 4 days ago. He lacks an enzyme and is unable to digest protein. He is sick and keeps getting worse. He was born in Kentucky and they air lifted him to Children's Hospital in Lexington and then he continued to get worse so they air lifted him to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. Please pray for him and his family.

From Lisa ---

Please keep my aunt and uncle in your prayers. My Aunt Brenda went for a stress test today for chest pains she had felt and they said she had blockage and sent her straight to the ER. They felt they were going to be able to do a stent to open up the blockage, but once viewing the heart, arteries, and where the blockage actually was they have determined it would be too risky to proceed with the stent. They have elected to do a double bypass in the morning as of now. They say she is one of the very few that has chest pains this early and has probably prevented her from having a stroke or a heart attack which is a praise. Please pray for her and the surgery she is about to undertake tomorrow. Also, her husband David, has been scheduled for several months with a neck/back surgery due to take place on Thursday morning. He is unable to reschedule this surgery at this point and is an extreme amount of pain. Therefore, she will be in Oak Ridge and his surgery is scheduled in Knoxville. If all goes well with Aunt Brenda she will be home by this weekend. My Uncle David will be recovering for several days in Knoxville. (FYI these are the parents of my cousin Brian you all were praying for a couple of months ago for chest pains as well. He had finally broke down and scheduled a doctor's appointment to start digging deeper on his chest pain issue -- which is a huge praise and it happens to be Thursday morning as well. WOW...)

I know this is rather long and detailed.... However, my entire family covets your prayers during this time for them.

Humphrey's Prayer Request

Tim will be having his surgery at 2:00 on Thursday afternoon. We have to be
at Parkwest Hospital at 12:30 and they said if all goes well we should be
able to leave around 8:00 that evening. Please pray that all does go well

Urgent Prayer for Jill Belue via Brent

Jill Belue will be going to St. Mary's North in the morning at 8:00 to have a CT Scan. Yesterday she had an x-ray and her spleen seems to be enlarged. She has been battling illnesses since November and her enlarged spleen could possibly be part of the issue or vice versa. Please Pray for Jill, she is very nervous about the CT Scan and pray that they will find out the cause for all the illnesses and the enlarged spleen.

I do have aden carcinoma of the right lung and will be discussing possible treatments with my oncologist." Hey All --

First off -- For those of you who were in class today... I just wanted to say that the Easter Bunny has always been good to me. My mom and dad always made it special for not only myself, but my sissy as well (we never had a "store bought basket either). Matter of fact Cupid, the Great Pumpkin, Turkey Day, and Santa (along with Birthdays or any other holiday you get a gift on) have ALWAYS been good to us and no matter what our parents always made them special for us with unique and undeserving gifts -- just wanted to clarify that. (Where do you think I got my ideas of baby baskets?)

Okay secondly -- ANDY you were RIGHT (you may never hear me say that again -- Ha)!!! There is not a time listed for the pumpkin patch class social. It may be 1:00 (Andy's executive decision). We will have more information on that in the next week or so... Remember there is a coupon in the East TN School coupon book for the Oaks Pumpkin Patch -- not sure about Knox County (but probably)??? You can save a little on the admission. GET IT ON YOUR CALENDAR!!!!

Lastly -- HAVE a GREAT week and hope you and yours stay healthy!!!

Update on Thelen-- 7/1/09

Hey

I saw Tim called on Mike's phone.

I guess there isn't much change. His pain is starting to kick in more, because he is trying to move around in bed and things like that.

Just keep praying for him, my dad and brother taking care of the baby. We are just all rotating between Mike, baby, and household duties/errands. Someone is always with Mike (usually me). A very big praise that my brother is a teacher and out of school this summer. Then, my dad had also recently decided to partially retire. So, he wasn't going to be working right now anyway. I'm also thankful we did move, so we are closer to my family during this time. A praise too that my dad and brother had been so involved with the baby since her birth. I'm very thankful for my dad and brother.

Pray for Mike. All this is treatable. I think its just a lot for him to handle. He really thought this would be an overnight stay at the hospital. I've been trying to slowly tell him he will probably have health care at home as well. I don't think he really believes me right now. So, we will probably be trying to talk to work and see if he can do some from home. Of course I know he misses the baby so much.

Pray for Leah. I know she is in good hands, but I still worry about her. Its hard for me to handle the balance between her and Mike.

Pray for the second surgery. I think my dad might help me try to look around for a surgeon who may have more of a specialty in this problem. We will talk more to his current surgeon and see how many surgeries she has done like that. Just want to get the problem fixed, so it doesn't happen again. If he just recovered at this point he would most likely get the infection again.

Tim talked with Laura today and this is the rundown:

Mike saw a specialist today and was sent straight to surgery. He had an abscess that was septic.
Sepsis/septic: Sepsis: Commonly called a "blood stream infection." The presence of bacteria (bacteremia) or other infectious organisms or their toxins in the blood (septicemia) or in other tissue of the body. Sepsis may be associated with clinical symptoms of systemic (bodywide) illness, such as fever, chills, malaise (generally feeling "rotten"), low blood pressure, and mental status changes. The abscess was drained and it was very deep; however, the doctors think he will make a full recovery.
He will be in the hospital for one week.
After returning home, he will receive home health care for at least one week

Specific prayer needs:

Mike is in a tremendous amount of pain because of this. Pray for relief from the pain.
He is also unable to Leah at all and probably will be unable to see her for duration of hospital stay.

He is in Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He cannot receive visitors as of yet. Tim will funnel me updates as he receives them in which I will gladly pass on to you all. Please keep them in your prayers. There is a praise in all of this. He does have a wonderful vacation/off work policy so they will be fine, I believe, financially through all of this and with his position at the job. However, please continue to pray that this holds true for them.

The family covets your prayers for them.

Camping over Labor Day weekend

I realize this is kind of premature, but the summer has started off fast so I know Labor Day will arrive before we know it. Our Life Group has planned to go camping over Labor Day weekend hopefully at Greenbriar Island in Gatlinburg. What I need to know from you is if you plan to go, and what you will be camping in (tent or camper) If it is a camper I will need to know what size. I also need to know the dates you will be staying. I will then call Greenbriar to see if there are enough slots for all of us. The starting date will be Friday, Sept 4. Our family is planning to stay the whole Labor Day weekend, but you may do whatever works for your family. I just need to get the ball rolling for reservations. You can email me, or post to the blog. Laney's Praise

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to send an update on Trevor. Craig and I truly appreciate all of your prayers for him. He saw the neurologist a couple of weeks ago, and he said that Trevor has probably escaped any long term effects from the complications he had at birth. He said that "we can't say that for sure, but it appears that he has". He does want to go ahead with another EEG just to see how it looks since he did still have some seizure activity on the last one, otherwise it was nearly normal. This is a praise because if you are going to have abnormalities, you want it to be seizure activity because it is treatable, the other stuff is not. So even if it does still show seizure activity, they may not even treat him unless he begins to have symptoms.

Also, Trevor saw the growth and development doctor this past Friday. She gave us a very good report. Everything she looks at was either "normal" or "great"!! She again reminded me of how very blessed we are to have him. She told me that a true knot (this is what caused all the problems , he had an actual knot in his cord and it was very tight, which completely cut off his oxygen supply) is very serious and lots of times the babies don't survive, or can have serious long term effects. So the fact that he is alive and doing so well is amazing. He's our miracle!!!!! May all the praise and glory go to God, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph. 3:20).

Craig and I also want to thank you all again for the giftcard to Babies R Us. We are so blessed to be a part of such a giving and loving group of people. We love you all.

Now, I would like to ask for your prayers once more. Craig is battleing his 28th or 29th kidney stone (I know , it's insane!). This one is apparently huge, and the chances of him passing it are pretty slim. So, he goes in tomorrow to have it busted. Thank God for lithotripsy!! Please pray for him as he undergoes the procedure and for his recovery.

I have a friend who is in his mid 40's who called and told me he had a doctors appointment and it was revealed he had a possible life threatening heart condition. He is not sure and it may be nothing but he goes to a specialist the next few days to learn more. He asked that we pray for him. His name is Taylor and he is a great guy and he has given clear testimony that he loves the Lord.

Well, we know when that date is going to be now. ;o) We are going to be moving into our new house on Saturday, April 25th. Chad's Grandfather (Pop)

Hello everyone. I wanted to write & let you know about something that I didn't ask for prayer requests yesterday about, b/c we (as a family) were still waiting on results, etc. My grandfather had to go to the ER this weekend b/c of chest pains. They thought he may have had a heart-attack... To make a long story short, I was called this morning by my dad & told that they performed surgery on him last night, they had to place one stint inside one of his arteries (fortunately not the "main" artery). He was still in pain, however seemed to be resting well this morning. The doctors are waiting on the "course of action" to take next, depending on how my Pop (& his heart) react to what has been done so far.

I would just like to ask for prayer for both he & my Granny while they are going through this. Thank you all.

Please pray for Mike's grandmother, Inez. She is home from the hospital, but she is very weak and it does not appear that things will get any better. They are keeping her medicated very well to alleviate pain, but... Pray for his Aunt Neta as she is the primary caregiver for Maw and she is struggling very hard with this. Neta does not deal with death at all so this is beginning to take its toll on her and she is letting her health slip some because of it too. Thank you so much in advance for your prayers for them.

I wanted to give an update on my grandfather and say thanks for the prayers but I am asking we continue to pray for him. As I stated yesterday, he had a series of strokes over the past few days. The doctors say he will have to be in a wheel chair, he can't drive, and can't be left alone. Also, his condition will never improve (according to the doctors). As you can imagine this is hard on the family because he is such a strong guy and an all around great person. Really what I pray for though is for God's will to be done. I pray the family accepts God's will and puts their faith (Forsaking All I Trust Him) in Him knowing that God knows exactly what needs/must/and will be done. It is also my prayer that my family members who do not truly know God and do not have an intimate relationship with Christ will come to know him during this process. On a personal level for me, I have every ounce of faith humanly possible that what ever will happen is carried out by God himself. This is a great knowledge to have because I also know He is the True King and Master and His ways are so supremely perfect that whether I understand them or not is an irrelevant part of the equation. I praise God for this situation and something to think about is: if it hurts this bad on the inside for me and my family, and God who loves us so much, it must pain him to hurt us yet he would allow this pain in our lives, just imagine what it will be like to be in His presence for one brief moment when the pain of this world seems like a drop in the ocean compared to the glory of being with God in heaven. (As Pastor Phil says, you have to know the bad news before you know the good news so the good news is truly good news.) Please pray these prayers and intentions with me.

This is Ned and I wanted to get a prayer request out for my grandfather. He had a series of strokes this morning and he is at the hospital. He lives in Arkansas and we are not sure how he is doing. This has happened before and he was fine but we are waiting for someone to get a definite statement and let my family know what is going on. He is almost 90 and any health issue is serious when you are 90. He is a strong guy so I think he will be alright but if you would pass this along I would appreciate it.

Hey guys,

I am not sure all of the details yet, but Courtnee Mattioli's mom is in the hospital. She has a mass on her lung. They were hopefully going to do surgery today sometime. I will post more as I know. Please keep Courtnee, Courtnee's mom, and her family in your prayers.

Just heard from Stephanie Yearwood, and her mom will have a biopsy on her lung tomorrow and surgery on Friday. She is on iv fluids and having blood transfusions. I will update when I know more.

Moving Help Needed

Hello everyone. This is just a call for help. It's a little early, but we wanted to go ahead & get the word out. Leslie & I are supposed to "close" on our new house on April 24th. If this, is indeed, the date that we close, then we are going to move that Saturday & Sunday (25th & 26th).

So, guys and girls, we are asking for help moving on those days. (or either or). We will have the stuff packed & the moving truck, etc. The only thing that we will need are able bodies to help us move. We would really appreciate the help.
